Professor, studied Management and Social Sciences at the Universities of Mannheim /Germany and Vienna /Austria. He started his academic career as a management professor at the University of Cologne. He moved to the University of Stuttgart, where he founded the Chair for General and Human Resource Management with a focus on HRM as part of sustainable General Management of the company. His numerous publications include 17 books and about 150 articles on various HRM-issues. Ackermann has been a member of the European Institute of Advanced Studies in Management at Brussels and a visiting professor at universities in Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa. Ackermann is still the owner and CEO of ISPA consult GmbH in Stuttgart, a consulting company specialized on HRM issues including Flexicurity and Balanced Work & Life, Application of Gender Mainstreaming in HRM, elaborating the new role of HR-Managers as customer oriented Service Providers, Human Capital Measurement and Concepts and many others.
